Ryback's Goal to Be WWE Champion, WWE on Success Of 'The Call,' More


- WWE Studios The Call held up well at the box office at #9. The movie took in $3.5 million to bring its total take to $45.5 million.

- Variety published an article with quotes from WWE Studios President Michael Luisi, who discusses the success of The Call. Here is an excerpt from the article.

"'The Call' has exceed our most optimistic forecasts," Luisi said. "It's a crowd pleaser and it tends to play consistently well with the core WWE fans but it's going beyond the core fans. That's great fo the WWE Studios brand."

- Ryback discussed his goals during an interview with Metro.

"I wake up every morning feeling energized and excited and ready for new challenges," Ryback said. "The Shield are the superstars I have in my sights right now but there's no one in particular I'm looking to wrestle. Whoever is put in front of me – that's who I focus on. I guess everyone's goal is to become WWE champion, though."

'The Call' WWE Studios Most Successful Film, Jim Ross Hypes RAW, Would Val Venis Return to WWE?


- Jim Ross tweeted the following to hype Monday's RAW with The Rock and John Cena: 

"I'm hearing tensions are building re: @TheRock vs @JohnCena & they'll both be on #WWE #Raw Monday night.
USA network 8/7 central..LIVE!" 

- Former WWE star Val Venis was asked on Twitter if he would quit smoking marijuana to return to WWE. He replied: 

"Nope, WWE would have to stop with the stupid testing and fines for THC before I would ever even consider working with them again." 

- WWE Studios' The Call will likely bring in another $9 million at the box office this week. So far it is the most successful movie WWE has done.

Success for The Call, WWE Live Events Selling Out



- Former WWE star Ken Doane turns 27 years today while Mark "Henry Godwinn" Canterbury turns 49. 

- Mark Henry and Jack Swagger vs. Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio is being advertised for the April SmackDown tapings from London. 

- Last night's RAW live event in Bridgeport, Connecticut was a legitimate sellout. Tonight's SmackDown live event in Hammond, Indiana is also sold out. 

- As noted earlier, WWE Studios' The Call is expected to do around $16-$17 million at the box office this weekend. With a budget of $13 million and other costs, it would need around $24 million at the box office to break even. With a strong opening like that, WWE will actually have a movie that makes money even before DVD sales.

- WWE posted the following video looking at near-ending moments for The Streak:

 - Santino Marella noted on Twitter that he will be at Monday's RAW. Santino just returned to the US from a promotional tour in Italy and had some delays in getting back home. 

- WWE Studios' The Call with Halle Berry and David Otunga earned $6.2 million at the box office on Friday night, coming in at #2. It's expected to gross between $16 and $17 million this opening weekend.
